Tantrums

There is something I would love to mark it down, to remember. Earlier this month, we brought kids to Disneyland. We watched the Mickey and Wondrous Book. At the end of the show, there's always confetti and shiny ribbon streamer popped out from the top. As usual, K would want to pick one of the ribbon which I normally allowed if we sat near one. But not this time, our seats were far from the popped area, so I told her she can pick up next time when we sit nearer. Of course, like most of the kids her age "the terrible 3", she insisted, threw tantrums to the point I suggest we leave right away.  {{{Fast forward}}} At the end of the day when we are in the car heading home,  she hold my hands and said K: I am sorry mommy Mom: Sorry for what? [I am puzzled, no idea what was she talking about\ K: I throw tantrums just now Mom: Oh, thank you. Thank you for thinking about it and say sorry to mommy. I am proud of many things in my life, especially raising both K and D by myself as ...

Adventure time!

The day K turned 3.5yo. I wanted her to do something different, to challenge herself in someway. So, I booked for her to join the challenging explorer activity with some of her friends. She was never a fan of things that 😖 "moves jiggly wiggly" (that's her word, explaining the swaying walking bridge, shaky fireman ladder). She hated the swing before turning 2. In fact, when she is standing next to the walking bridge and fireman ladder, she said she is scared and hesitated to even put a foot on it. Anyway, Mr and I were there to encourage her at every step, assuring it's safe with the safety equipments attached to her. At last, she completed all the task, with a serious face.  I'd ask how she feel about the activity. Her response is positive 😉 X

Rules

As a parent (especially a full time stay at home mommy) of a girl and a boy, I often feel responsible for their wellbeing and  everything else , including the good and behavior/ manners, character building, knowledge etc.  Most of the time they are easy, especially if I am being patient and reasonable; but there are moments they turn into angry dinosaur, normally in my bad days where I losses it too! Yes, I do yelled. You got to understand, kids are naturally "mom-bullier". They can be an angel to everyone but a little devil  challenging mommy. When I hear someone praises them for behaving, I secretly rolled my eyes and thought " yeah you have no idea my dear".  Anyway, I do have some rules for kids to strictly followed:  1. Holding adults' hand at the carpark/ pathway.  2. Holding adults' hand when it's crowded (eg. markets, malls) 3. Do not eat anything given by others before asking mommy and daddy.  4. Do not walk into an empty elevator by you...

Our Routines

As a parent for 3.5 years, the question I got asked most are "how I make my kids go to bed early", followed by grumbles how impossible for their kids to sleep early. Seriously, even the security at my building complaint her grandchildren sleeping at 12 midnight. Some of them then would jump to conclusion and sarcastically mentioning how easy my life as a mom is/ how my kids are the easy one.  My kids are in bed by 7.30 pm and usually asleep by 8 pm. I understand families with working parents come home late and prefer their kids stay up a little longer to spend some quality time; I know some parents who woke an hour early in the morning to spend time with kids and have them sleep early too, so in the end it's really all on parents' priorities and family's lifestyle.  And here come the questions: - Why so early? K wakes early at 6.50 am on school days, maybe 7.30 am on weekends and D wakes around 8 am. K usually don't nap anymore, and D takes 1 hour nap every no...
