Hua Hin 2020

Earlier this year, we travel to Thailand with kids and relatives. It’s not the first time in Thailand, but it’s our first to Hua Hin (HH) which is located 3 hours drive away from Bangkok (BKK) at the southern Thai province of Prachuap Khiri Khan and famous for its seaside resorts. We flew to BKK early in the morning, got our HKD changed to Baht at the airport’s SuperrichTH then hopped on to our pre-book van to Hua Hin!  Of all the hotels and resorts along, we picked the Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa which is reputable for their kids club, kids and family pools, the 1.1m loop pool access rooms, fine amenities, satisfying service and good food. And of course, with kids who love swimming, we book the pool access rooms at ground floor and picked the breakfast and spa package (includes breakfasts and daily 60 mins spa for each adults) !

Here’s what to do when you’re in any of the seaside resorts in HH.

1. Most of it has beach access, which means there’s horse riding, sunbathing area, food stalls, kitesurfing classes and even seaside massage services. All of these are to be paid accordingly, often at different prices and definitely pricey because it’s for tourist ! But there are reasonable ones, just spend some time googling it or walk around and begin the bargaining.

2. Most of it has kids club and adults classes like yoga, thai boxing, fitness thing and cooking classes. Remember to get the timetable for all scheduled classes so you won’t miss out the fun and interested ones. Most of them are free of charge unless kids workshops for shoes/ pillows kind of thing; or if you want a 1-on-1 thai boxing class with the instructor.

3. Different swimming pools for different people. In Marriot, they have different pools for Kids, teenage, family and adults! The floating boards, pool hoops are available to all, and you’re allowed to bring your own giant floating animals with free electric pump next to the pool for anyone to pump it without a fuss. However, try not getting these “toys” to adult pool, there are adults probably prefer to just swim and not just soaking in pool for fun time.

4. Don’t underestimate the hotel’s restaurant and cafes. They often surprises you with variety of food choice, and check the special cuisines for different nights. And let’s not forget the happy hour for adults to order some cocktails with chips while kids are hanging out at kids club 😌

5. The spa and massage treatments are often reasonable ! You don’t really have to tip the masseurs unless it’s beyond expectations; They uses good products, offer refreshments before and after treatments.

Overall our experience there are amazing ! Good food, relaxing atmosphere, fun time with the family 😊 Of course in Hua Hin there are much more than just seaside resorts ; but we decided to save them for our next trip!

Tips: Hiking

Hiking with kids can be tough but we did it anyway, because it’s one of the best way to show kids the right way to care and love the nature. Of course, there are times where kids get worn out, feel bored or throw tantrums; but they develop new skills like observing plants and livings in nature, experience independence and trained physiques when they spend time outdoors.  However, heading into the nature with children requires some planning and prep;  1. Right clothing and gear. Layers of clothes so you could adjust for changing temperatures, weather and condition. Closed-goes shoes that fit well. Accessories like hat and sunglasses  2. Stock up your backpack.  Filled up with snacks for kids (something they’ll look forward to), plenty of water, sunscreen and bug repellent. Consider to let your young children like mine (4.5yo and 3yo) bring 1 of their favourite toy if it makes them feel better about the hike. And not forget the first aid kit stock with bandage, bite an...

The old school playground - Holiday Farm

Proclaim: I am not advertising for them, I am not paid to do this. This is just my review, my sharing, my experience.  Note: Mask on face at all time! Even when we are doing activities. Be safe, and don’t give a reason for these facilities to be forced to close too.  Holiday farm is a family run, educational and interactive farm situated in Sheung Shui. It promotes green culture and environmental friendly lifestyle hence being there do make you feel closer to the nature; especially with their originality on play equipments. Last holiday, we took kids to Holiday Farm. Honestly, it’s an exciting place to be, we have a wonderful day, from 10 to 5pm 👍 Kids love everything they saw! The treehouse slides, the horses riding made with recycled materials, the barrel slides, the “carpets” slides, each of these gave so much fun and create unforgettable memories.  The activities are divided into 2 categories, the generals (include botanic gardens, boat through the pond, rickshaw, gr...

Balance beam 6. “A” wall  7. Spider webs  8. Barbed wire  9. A frame  10. Log jump Kids love every bits! Well, almost every single one except the mud pit which got them in a little bit of a sticky situation. There are moments which I’d love not to forget, moments that my kids made me so proud of myself as a mother 😂  We joint the open category for age 4 to 6, which K is 6y2m and D is 4y8m. They have been quite an active kids, of course I have no doubt in their capability to finish the challenge. However, they do surprise me with their team spirits and sharpness at taking down each obstacles.  K shows her determi...
