Sai Yuen - Camping Adventure Park

Last weekend, we took kids glamping at Sai Yuen aka the camping adventure park. It’s an outdoor adventure playground with over 11 acres of land on Cheung Chau. They offer different themes of camping areas include the Native America Teepee, African Safari Tent, Geodesic Dome and Mongolian Ger. And of course they have plenty of space where you could just bring your own tents and tools. It’s a different experience from our usual camping at public camp site.  It is private, well managed with facilities such as the cooking/ bbq areas, showers, toilets, children play area and having vending machines with snacks, drinks and even toiletries.

We took the express ferry from Central Piers to Cheung Chau. Then hop on to the Kaito boat and head straight to Sai Wan Pier. Walk uphill to the entrance of Sai Yuen, a red asian style kind of gate and name board. Checked our temperature at gate, then check in at the concierge. We booked the African Safari Tent for 2 adults and 2 children, where there’s a double bed and 2 single bed, with a fan and aircon/heater. And at our door is a folded table with 4 camping chair. It’s clean, and cosy, the bedsheets and blankets don’t smell funny.

There are different activities such as the bubble soccer, climbing monkeys, tree top canopy walk, model boats etc and each charges are different, with different requirements. There’s a big field right in the middle of the park, great for disc flying, bike or just run around. You could join the beggar’s wild chicken workshop, rent their bbq equipments and ordered through the camp, or just bring your own to cook.

Kids had so much fun playing the flying fox and huge swing, and just running around playing catch, writing on sand with sticks and feed the goat. I do pay for the monkey climbing activity for K to have a go. It’s for age 5 and above. She did an amazing job given the heights, and overcoming her fear and uncertainty. And I’m impressed by the instructor, Cyrus, he is professional of course, but he is patient and comfort kids in a way I sincerely applauded him.

Aside from the park, we did get out of Sai Yuen and have a walk to Cheung Po Tsai Cave (張保仔洞). It’s a 30 mins walk (top) back and forth, including climbing/ walking through the cave. We took an evening walk there, then a morning walk to the cave again. Kids like it very much! The idea of a cave where the pirate hides the treasures excite them.

This glamping experience is wonderful. We are well rested; both kids and adults enjoyed our time with the nature, a little getaway from the city is perfect.

Be safe, and don’t give a reason for these facilities to be forced to close too.  Holiday farm is a family run, educational and interactive farm situated in Sheung Shui. It promotes green culture and environmental friendly lifestyle hence being there do make you feel closer to the nature; especially with their originality on play equipments. Last holiday, we took kids to Holiday Farm. Honestly, it’s an exciting place to be, we have a wonderful day, from 10 to 5pm 👍 Kids love everything they saw! The treehouse slides, the horses riding made with recycled materials, the barrel slides, the “carpets” slides, each of these gave so much fun and create unforgettable memories.  The activities are divided into 2 categories, the generals (include botanic gardens, boat through the pond, rickshaw, gr...

Balance beam 6. “A” wall  7. Spider webs  8. Barbed wire  9. A frame  10. Log jump Kids love every bits! Well, almost every single one except the mud pit which got them in a little bit of a sticky situation. There are moments which I’d love not to forget, moments that my kids made me so proud of myself as a mother 😂  We joint the open category for age 4 to 6, which K is 6y2m and D is 4y8m. They have been quite an active kids, of course I have no doubt in their capability to finish the challenge. However, they do surprise me with their team spirits and sharpness at taking down each obstacles.  K shows her determi...
